Hello friends... our other link was getting too long that I think we maxed out our subject space :)
So we'll continue here!
Did anyone find Gravity Hill or the Haunted Forest?
Does anyone know of other haunted places in the valley?

Sun, February 19, 2006 - 4:26 PMO ya there also is the abandon Asylum that is out by eagle rock. Its a creepy place at night. Though I think they might have sealed it up. Would be interesting to have a sleep over there huh. Last one alive in the morning gets the whole pot of money. 20 buck min. -

Re: Haunted Place II
Sun, February 19, 2006 - 6:40 PMthe haunted forest is up at the very top of lake ave, if i remember correctly... and it is not the kind of place you want to go screwing around in, especially after dark... i'm not just talking about supernatural shit... some very not nice people go up there and take advantage of the "legends" to scare curiosity seekers... at least that is the warning i have gotten from somebody who grew up pretty close to the legends...
it has been said that the marx bros built a mansion up there... apparently it's all in ruins now... but if you hike pretty far into it you can see some of it... don't have any proof on this except for tales told out of school...
the same person who warned me about running around in the haunted forest also says he knows where gravity hill is... he agrees we should all take a trip there... i'll talk to him about it and see what i can organize... -

Re: Haunted Place II
Sun, February 19, 2006 - 9:51 PMPHS 84-88..the haunted forest is an incredibly romantic place for an afternoon picnic. However, it's and incredibly horrid place for an acid trip. The wind speaks dreadful things, and the trees are "Pufnstuff-esque"...not to mention the "fringe elements" who dwell the night sky...talk about some shit!

Tue, February 21, 2006 - 12:27 PMYa the crazy people come out at night, not just the ghosts. I remember that, you should always go with a decent group. bums and crazy people, always seem to appear once in a while. Anyone game, sounds like the texas chainsaw maybe? -

Re: Haunted Place II
Tue, February 21, 2006 - 2:12 PMI think we're slowly developing a decent group to be a mini ghost hunting group. -

Re: Haunted Place II
Tue, February 21, 2006 - 3:33 PMI take a group (from 6 to 15 people) up Echo mountain monthly for a moonlight conditioning hike, with a nice picnic, the trail starts at the same location....top of Lake Ave, by the old estate gates? where is this haunted place? we never saw any ghosts, just city lights and a beautiful moon, the only 'crazy' people are a group of long haired teenagers (no threat really), and the place is in Altadena, NOT Pasadena as in the name of this tribe.....but I would be up for a haunted night hike, I mean I walk to the place from my house, so when? -

Re: Haunted Place II
Wed, March 8, 2006 - 9:35 PMHi, all ... just joined the tribe. I'm Trevor. Definitely into the idea of spooky historic places. I grew up in Pasadena, and live up in Altadena now. Reading through this whole thread, I have a couple things to add:
I've been in the basement of the Castle Green. There is a story residents there tell about a girl who died down there, and that her spirit still inhabits the various rooms where guests' luggage used to be stored. Didn't know about the tunnels under Raymond. And what's now Stat's is what's left of what used to be the MAIN hotel. The current Castle Green was a smaller annex they added to the original Hotel Green. I think the coolest feature of the Castle is its rooftop penthouse, with an entirely glass ceiling. I was up there back in the late 80's, when the penthouse was available for rent. Totally cool setting.
I've explored the grounds at the top of Lake a lot. Never realized any of it wqs haunted, just historical. I don't think there's any real danger there at night, and have passed through returning from hikes that went late. It's definitely worth a trip, and I'm sure the spirits will emerge if we encourage them.
I've got to go check out this gravity hill concept. I live near that section of Loma Alta, and have driven it in both directions many times. I've never noticed any weird gravitation, but I wasn't looking for it either....

Re: Haunted Place II
Thu, April 6, 2006 - 11:29 AMI grew up in Altadena... moved to Studio City, Burbank, Carson, Pasadena, and back to Altadena now... My wife and I bought a house just down the street from Gravity Hill. (which by the way is on Loma Alta just East of Fair Oaks... ) The bottom center of Gravity Hill has a house on the South Side of the street with a mailbox with the family name "Downes" on it. I always thought that was funny and ironic.
My friends and I in high school always went to the Cobb Estates (Haunted Forrest) at the top of Lake Ave. Freaky but fun place at night.
My family's house in Altadena... the border of on Woodbury Road... is haunted... check this out too... www.geocities.com/par_agent...ports.html

Re: Haunted Place II
Fri, April 7, 2006 - 9:31 AMThe Cobb estate at the top of Lake Avenue is now a free botanical garden of the United States Forestry Service. It is guarded by its historic gates which are easily bypassed to allow visitors and hikers to ascend its long and winding paved driveway to the site of what was once Altadena's premier mansions. This is found along side the Sam Merill trail which accesses Las Flores Canyon on the way to Echo Mountain.
